Tuesday Teaser--Wolf of her Own

The teaser this week is from Wolf of her Own, which was released yesterday! I love this book so much.

TEASER:

He turned and got his first real view of her bedroom. This was Elise’s private domain. Sheer white curtains hung at the windows, allowing in light and giving the illusion of privacy. The bed was queen-sized and covered with a white comforter edged in lace. The quilt that she’d had wrapped around her this morning was folded and sitting on the edge of the bed.

Drawn to it, he walked over and ran his fingers over it. The colors were pale and feminine—pink, cream, green, blue, and peach. He noticed the other little touches—a pale pink bench at the end of the bed, a chest of drawers painted white with glass knobs, and a wicker chair in the corner with throw pillows in colors that matched the quilt.

It was totally and utterly feminine. There wasn’t a hint of masculine anywhere.

And wasn’t that the point? Her mate had probably had everything his way in the years they’d been married, so it was only natural she’d swing totally the other way when she was designing a space for herself.

It suited her—intensely feminine without being too fussy. There were only a few extra pillows piled on the bed and the only lace was a thin band around the edge of her comforter. He really felt like the big bad wolf standing here in her room.

A smile tilted up the corners of his mouth. Damned if he didn’t like it.

She really needed something masculine to ground the space—see, watching all those decorating shows with his sister years ago had taught him something—and he was just the something masculine that was needed.

Mikhail Matheson may be an outsider in Salvation, but he stays with the pack to be close to his sister. Soon he’ll have to decide if he’s going to leave the pack or risk it all to pursue a place at her side.

After escaping her abusive mate, Elise LaForge has made a home in Salvation with her sons. She never expected to have her emotions stirred up by the always serious and seriously handsome Mikhail. But can she finally put her past behind her and dare to move on?

When danger creeps into the pack, both she and Mikhail have to be willing to sacrifice everything to have a chance at love.

Teaser Tuesday--Wolf of her Own

TEASER: WOLF OF HER OWN

“Baby, I want it more than I want my next breath,” he assured her. Her smile brightened the entire room, and he momentarily forgot when he meant to say. When she tried to pull her hand from his grip, he remembered. “I don’t want you to think you have to do this.”

She tugged again, and this time he released her. “I want to.”

Mikhail gave up the fight. Whether it was the right decision or not really didn’t matter. It was what Elise wanted. What she needed.

He almost snorted aloud. Yeah, he was a giver, all right. It wasn’t as though he thought he might die if she didn’t touch him soon. Not at all.

Happy Victoria Day Weekend!

It's the Victoria Day weekend here in Canada, more commonly known as the May 24th weekend (or May Two-four) even though it rarely falls on that date. It's the unofficial kickoff to summer here. I'm looking forward to some nice weather and some sunshine.

Enjoy your long weekend.

Happy Victoria Day to all my Canadian friends!

Weekend Book Club--Seal Camp by Suzanne Brockmann

I've been a huge fan of Suzanne Brockmann's Tall, Dark and Dangerous series for years. (The original paperbacks are on my "keeper" shelf.) Now she has a new book out in the series!

SEAL CAMP is the 12th book in the series and it was worth the wait.

All your favorite characters are back from Lucky, Joe Cat, Bobby Taylor and his wife Colleen, Thomas King, and Rio Rosetti. I hope this is a sign that there will be more TDD books in the future.

BLURB:

Navy SEAL Lieutenant Jim “Spaceman” Slade’s got a problem. A SEAL Team is only as fast as its slowest member—and right now, thanks to his battered knees—that’s Jim. He reluctantly takes medical leave, but he’s a SEAL, so he spends his “vacation” as an instructor, helping out a former Senior Chief who runs a camp for SEAL wannabes. But to Jim’s shock, he finds himself falling for the one woman attending the camp session—an obviously brilliant but seemingly timid lawyer who is determined to do everything her way, no matter how wrong.

Ashley DeWitt’s got a problem, too. She’s a kickass lawyer, but when it comes to her personal life, she’s a total pushover. When she finds herself hiding behind her condo Dumpster to avoid a confrontation with an ex, she decides enough is enough and signs up for a session at a camp called SEAL World, in hopes she’ll discover how to be more assertive outside of the courtroom. And then she’s assigned to Jim’s team...

When an alpha male—smart, funny, strong, but terrified of a future trapped behind a desk—collides with a smart, funny, and quietly strong woman with a troubled past, sparks fly hot and fast.

Tuesday Teaser and Pre-Order Links for Wolf of her Own

Wolf of her Own, book 9 in the Salvation Pack series is now up for pre-order at Amazon and other e-retailers.

It has nothing to with the fact that Elise—the most fascinating woman he’s ever laid eyes on—is part of the pack. Mikhail has wanted Elise for years, but being with her could cost him his life. TEASER:

I’m sorry, Elise, but I think I deserve to know why it bothers you so much if your sons find out I’m interested in you.”

It seemed obvious to her. “Because it might cause upset in the pack.”

“You mean your grown sons might have to face the fact their mother is a beautiful, vibrant, and sexual woman.” Mikhail pushed out of his seat and came to kneel on the floor in front of her. He rested his hands on either side of her. The heat from his big body surrounded her. She felt both safe and threatened.

“Yes. No. I don’t know.” She buried her face in her hands. “I’ve never been a sexual woman before.” Brutal honesty seemed to be her only option. “I don’t know how I feel.”

Upbeat Authors

The topic this week is self-esteem. I thought this quote said it all.

“You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”

Teaser Tuesday: Stefan's Salvation

Here's a teaser from Stefan's Salvation, book 3 of the Dalakis Passion vampire series. Stefan is one of those characters who was nothing like I thought he'd be. The youngest of the Dalakis brothers, I'd planned for him to be the lighthearted one. Yeah, that didn't work out at all. Stefan is the most intense, most brooding one of the bunch.

TEASER:

A vampire walked into a bar.

Stefan Dalakis smiled inwardly as he pulled open the weathered wooden door and walked into the dimly lit bar, leaving the dark of night behind him. It amused him to wonder what the patrons would think if they only knew what walked among them.

But there was no joke to follow the opening line.

The door banged solidly shut behind him and every head in the place turned his way. They all eyed him suspiciously. His gaze swept the room, cataloguing each patron in turn. Even though the room was poorly lit and he was wearing mirrored sunglasses, he saw everything. His vision was many times greater than any human’s and there was no place on Earth where it was so dark that he could not see.

He knew very well what they saw as they stared at him. At six-foot-six, he was a tall man, but he was heavily muscled as well, which gave the illusion that he was even bigger. The long black leather duster he wore was open, revealing a black linen shirt and a pair of black jeans. He pushed his long black hair back over his shoulders and ignored the barely veiled looks of mistrust aimed in his direction as he ambled toward the bar. His boot heels scuffed across a scarred plank floor that had obviously seen better days.

The bartender eyed him uncertainly as Stefan came to a halt in front of him.
