Countdown to Christmas: Royal Guardsmen - Snoopy's Christmas

The countdown to Christmas has begun! It's less than a month to the big day. We had this Christmas album when we were kids. I loved listening to it. To me, one of the first signs of the holidays were when we'd put this album on the big stereo in the living room and my sister and I would dance around to the songs.

Here's the original cover of the record album we owned.

Tuesday Teaser: Tempting Tori

This week the Tuesday Teaser comes from my Ellora's Cave Quickie TEMPTING TORI. This is the first book about the Courage brothers of Texas. The other two are Lassoing Lara and Tracking Talia.

TEASER:

“I thought you liked it here.”

She could hear the anger in his voice, but more than that, she could hear the underlying hurt. Tori felt as if a knife was twisting in her heart. “I do like it here.” That was an understatement. She loved it here.

“Then you’ll stay.” It wasn’t a question, but a statement. She felt her lips turn up in a genuine smile. That was just like J. T. to figure everything was settled because he said it was so. He was stubborn and mule-headed at times, but she loved him in spite of it, or maybe even because of it. It was his stubbornness that had enabled him to take the successful ranch his parents had left him and his brothers and make it even more profitable.

“No.” She rubbed her hands up and down her arms, suddenly chilled in spite of the heat. “I can’t stay.”

J. T. strode toward her, not stopping until the toes of his boots touched the tops of her sneakers. He was a good six inches taller than her, but was so much broader that he made her feel small. Her stomach fluttered, but it wasn’t with fear.

Laurie Roma November Symposium: Someone Like You!

In honor of Thanksgiving Laurie Roma asked her friends and fellow authors if they had to choose, which hero from one of their books would they be most grateful to have in their lives and why.

Find out who I chose and why at LAURIE ROMA'S NOVEMBER SYMPOSIUM: SOMEONE LIKE YOU!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is my birthday so I'm off celebrating and eating cake. :)

It's amazing how quickly the years fly by the older I get. When I was younger, each year seemed to last forever. Now it feels as though I've blinked and a decade has passed. I think I'll take some time today and think about any changes I'd like to make in my life. It's a good day to stop and reflect.

Tuesday Teaser: Katie's Art of Seduction

This week the Tuesday Teaser comes from KATIE'S ART OF SEDUCTION. This erotic/contemporary novel is a beauty and the beast story, and the beast won't be easily tamed. I love the new cover for this book!

TEASER:

The world no longer existed. Sheltered in the dark of the trees, away from the footpaths and the lights, the night was a secluded and seductive haven. Vague sounds of traffic and the barking of a dog were nothing but dim background noise, drowned out by the pounding of her heart. For Katie, there was only Cain.

Her feet left the ground as Cain lifted her easily and moved them both deeper into the surrounding trees. Startled, Katie opened her eyes as her feet touched the ground again. Cain turned her body so that her back was against a tree, and he stood in front of her. The two of them were completely isolated from the rest of the world, as the only sounds were their breathing and the wind whistling through the tree branches.

“Trust me,” came his sorcerer’s voice from the darkness.

Blurb: Summer Sins

Master Adrian Cayne knows how to bring exquisite pain or pleasure to a woman’s body. Before he’ll take on an inexperienced submissive, he expects her to pass a series of seductive tests of increasing intensity to see if she’s receptive to his unique and dark skills. Under his command and relentless determination, she’ll relinquish control to him.

Emma is known to thoroughly research her articles for the tabloid magazine Scandal. Her latest assignment to write about Dark Odyssey, a new BDSM club, is her chance to indulge in her taboo desires for the sex she craves as a submissive. With her job and future career on the line, she has to write a lurid, gossipy story. But her heart isn’t in it because she falling for Adrian.

Raw and hot passion draws them past guarded limits, but when secrets are revealed, trust will be the final test for true love.

Excerpt Summer Sins:

When Adrian walked into the foyer he spotted Cynthia and the redhead standing next to her. His body immediately responded with a tug in the gut and a tightening in his groin. She was a tad shorter than Cynthia, which would put her at about five-seven. The green dress molded to her curvy body, athletic but not skinny. Fair skin gleamed with a natural glow. He lived in Florida but he was as pale as some of the snowbirds. Carter was right, he worked too damn much.

As if she sensed his perusal, she looked his way and made eye contact. Confident, intelligent eyes, but slightly vulnerable. As a sub, she’d be perfect if that was her inclination. He didn’t like subs who had no mind of their own. They were overly dependent, needy. Too bad she had no experience.

“Hey, Emma.” Carter walked over and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “Meet our friend, Adrian Cayne.”

They shook hands and exchanged greetings. For a newbie she didn’t seem that nervous or managed to cover it up well.

“Emma is a caretaker at an animal shelter,” Carter said. “And Adrian’s a doctor.”

     “What specialty?” Emma asked.

“Neurosurgery,” Adrian said. “What kinds of animals have you cared for?”

“Mostly dogs and cats. When I worked at Animal Kingdom, I had a chance to work with all types.”

“What brought you down here?” Adrian asked.

“It was… A number of things brought about the relocation.” She didn’t explain.

Maybe she moved with a boyfriend and it didn’t work out. He wasn’t going to press.

“I just love this room,” Cynthia said, changing the subject as she gazed out toward the ocean. “It’s still quiet, but on busy nights, this room is full of guests. You usually won’t see couples or groups having sex out here, just touching, sometimes getting naked. Hard core stuff goes on in the rooms.”

“Has anyone explained the rules yet?” Carter asked Emma.

     “Not completely.”

“An open door is an invitation to watch,” Adrian offered. “Those playing inside a room must invite you in. Guests can’t just waltz in during a group scene. It’s rather rude and you’ll probably get thrown out. If there are enough complaints, a guest can be asked to leave the club.” He watched her expression. A Dom could pick up the smallest telltales. He focused his attention on her soft, hazel eyes. She was looking at him and around the room, alert, taking in every detail. The muscles in her jaw and long neck were relaxed but she gripped the strap of her purse with a tight fist.

Adrian had numerous encounters in here over the years. Eager subs anxiously anticipating a scene. Could she be his next eager sub? Or was she a newbie who thought she might like bondage only to freak out the moment she had to give up a little control. That was the disadvantage of taking on a new submissive.

“Dark Odyssey was overdue,” Carter explained to Emma. “The one semi-bondage room with restraint table and swing was very popular. Patrons kept requesting more rooms with better bondage equipment.” He pointed the way toward a long hallway where the old playrooms were. He described the rules—how no, meant no. If any guest approached her and she told him no and was still pressured, then tell one of the guys in the black TropiX T-shirts.

Adrian stood beside her. “You’re not saying much?”

She jumped and looked up at him. “I’m taking it all in. This is new for me.”

“Adrian!” A woman called from across the room. It took him a moment but he recognized the voice. Every muscle in his body tensed. If he had known she would be here, he wouldn’t have come.

Jill strutted across the room in killer platform heels and a slinky silvery-white dress that was practically see-through. Her brown hair was longer since he’d seen her last, pulled back from her shoulders. More of her breasts hung out of the dress than were contained. Her rosy areolas showed through the flimsy material. Sliding between Adrian and Emma, her back rudely facing Emma, she put her arms around him and kissed him. “I’ve missed you, Master. So glad to see you’re back. Will you take me to Dark Odyssey this evening?” She lowered her head and slid her hands down his chest.

Grasping her hands, Adrian gently pulled them away. “Good to see you, Jill. I’m with friends this evening.” He stepped back to introduce Emma, Cynthia and Carter.

Jill gave Emma a quick up-and-down glance and apparently decided she wasn’t competition. “Would you like me to give you all a tour of Dark Odyssey?” She hooked arms with Adrian.

“Thanks, Jill, but Cynthia and Carter will be giving us a tour.” He knew how possessive and needy she could be and he didn’t want to get into that now.

Jill’s expression hardened with a forced smile. “Enjoy the tour. I’ll talk to you later, Adrian. I’ll be down here for a while unless I meet someone.”

“Have a good evening,” he said. The others, including Emma said goodbye.

“I didn’t know she was going to be here,” Cynthia said, obviously concerned.

Across the room, two men and a woman on one of the sofas fondled one another.     The men groped her breasts and between her legs. A second later, her blouse was off and one man sucked her nipples. The woman had her hand down one guy’s pants while kissing the other man. Adrian noticed Emma watched them with parted lips.

“Anything appeal to you? Or offend?” Adrian asked.

“I like the openness and sensual atmosphere,” she said. “I feel safe. I’m not sure if I’d get into the group thing. Although, I can’t say I wouldn’t try it. But what always interested me was bondage. I don’t claim to understand it, but I’m intrigued by it.” She took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Her hands were grasped tightly together.

Adrian noticed everything. A twitch of a muscle was a clue when he was pushing his partner toward her limit. Emma had the most expressive eyes, sensual and innocent, but defiant too.

His groin tightened again and he clenched his teeth. It had been too long since he fucked a sweet sub, drew every ounce of pleasure from her until she moaned in ecstasy. To have a sub willing to surrender, willing to allow him to push her beyond her limits was what he needed badly. Could he have a woman in a vanilla-only relationship? “You have a question? You look confused. Have you not seen a ménage before?”

“I’ve not watched one before. I was wondering if a Dom has more than one submissive?”

He smiled. “Depends whether he wants to be exclusive or not.”

“We’ll show you Dark Odyssey before it gets crowded,” Cynthia said.

Welcome Author Alicia Sparks

Author Alicia Sparks is here today to tell us about Primitive Fix, the first book in her Primitive series. Welcome Alicia!

Blurb: Book 1 in the Primitive Series

PRIMITIVE FIX – Meet two brothers, tiger shifters, and the women who bring out the beast in them.

Part 1 - Kenyon

Sage Villalobos has been destined to marry Kenyon Maddux since the day she was born. As the second-born in her wolf clan, she came into this world owing a debt to the family of shape-shifting tigers who rule the Louisiana swamps in the Atchafalaya Basin. Kenyon is the only man she’s ever wanted, the man who sets her blood on fire, but she’s tired of being indebted to his family for something she didn’t do. She wants him to choose her because he loves her, not because he owns her. When Kenyon’s brother, Nik, is taken prisoner, Kenyon turns to Sage for help. Using her unique skills, she knows she can help him free his brother, but there will be a price. If she agrees to do this, she wants Kenyon to release her from her debt. However, the only thing Kenyon wants to do is hold on to her and never let her go.

Part 2 - Nik

After months of captivity as part of a roadside attraction, Nik Maddux is finally able to escape. Injured and at death’s door, he makes his way through the swamp only to collapse near Juliette’s home. Juliette pulls the naked man into her cabin and begins nursing him back to health, marveling at the black stripes which cover his body and the feline features of his face. She knows he’s not quite human and realizes she may have found a kindred spirit, someone whose secrets are as deadly as her own. When Nik awakes, his attraction to Juliette is instant. While she heals his body, he wants to heal her soul. But danger is lurking in the swamp, and the longer they stay together, the more likely they are to lose everything.

Excerpt from Primitive by Alicia Sparks. Coming Soon from Beau Coup Publishing

She looked up at him as soon as he stepped into the room, and his heart stopped. Faded blue jeans replaced her business skirt and a white tank top took the place of her button up shirt. She was sitting with her feet dangling off his bed, her lips parted, her chest rising and falling. Her hand immediately went to her throat and he could smell her arousal, could sense it from across the room. Whatever she thought about him, at this moment, she wanted him, and there was no way she could deny it.

Wordlessly, he stalked over to her, aware of the way his cock hardened beneath the towel, pretty sure she could see the evidence of what she was doing to him. When he stood over her, his legs spread, arms across his chest, she looked up at him, and he knew he could take her here and now. Could, but wouldn’t. Not yet. Not until he had driven her beyond crazy with longing for him, not until she had felt a portion of what he had felt all those years she had been gone.

“Feel better?” When the words came out, he didn’t miss the raspy tone of her voice, the way it was thick and needy, filled with the same kind of longing coursing through him.

“No. Just clean.” It only took one more step and he was standing between her legs, pushing her thighs apart to make room for his body.

“Kenyon…”

“Shh. No words. I just want you to feel.”

She sucked in her breath when he reached out and pulled her flush against him, her core connecting with the towel, connecting with what was under the towel, sending a growl through his body that ended up vibrating from his lips. His hands still on her hips, he leaned forward and pressed his forehead to hers, his eyes holding her the entire way. Her tongue darted out across her bottom lip, and it took every bit of strength he had not to nip it with his teeth, show her the alpha beast he had living inside him. But he didn’t. Instead, he let the rumbling in his throat do the talking for him, the purring sound filling the room, surrounding them both.

When he felt her shiver beneath him, he knew he had her, knew she was his. She could talk about freedom and family tradition and wanting to let go all she wanted, but he knew she was his and she would never be able to walk away from what they had.

“Get off me.” Her hands were on his chest, pushing against him, but the movement wasn’t very spirited. She couldn’t have swatted a fly away with that gentle touch, but it was enough to cause his cock to jerk in reaction.

“Not until you admit that you’ve missed me.” He nuzzled against her ear with his lips, resisting the urge to take the lobe between his teeth and bite her, demand her submission. It was part of their mating ritual, of what they had always done, of how they had always been. She remembered. The way her body was calling out to him, her scent permeating his brain, he knew she remembered and wanted him as badly as he wanted her.

“If I admit it, will you go away?” Her nails grazed against his shoulder, her actions in opposition to everything she was saying. A low moan escaped her throat, followed by a gasp, as if she had stopped herself—or tried to stop herself—from reacting to him.

“You’ll never get rid of me. Even if you live to be a hundred and you disappear into the Colorado wilderness, I will always be part of you.” He nipped her ear this time and was rewarded with another gasp, another moan. “You want me, Sage. You haven’t seen me for three years and your body needs me like it needs to breathe.”

Tuesday Teaser: Embracing Silence

This week the Tuesday Teaser comes from EMBRACING SILENCE. This is book 1 in my Project Alpha futuristic trilogy, and it was nominated for an RT Reviewer's Choice Award in 2010.

TEASER:

The man was a phantom.

She took a step back and hit the edge of the table. The candle teetered and fell to one side, its flame flickering before being extinguished. Darkness descended. Silence got a sick feeling in the pit of her belly. She had no idea how to get out.

Moving forward, she tried not to make a sound as she headed toward where she’d first sensed him in the room. It made sense that the entrance would be somewhere around there.

As before, there was no sound, no tell-tale giveaway, but she sensed him as he moved in behind her. Before she could react, his wrists wrapped around hers. He didn’t squeeze them, but his fingers pressed some pressure points. Her hands opened and her knife fell the floor, clattering on the dirt and stones.

He bent her elbows, crossing her arms over her chest. Because of the way he held her, his arms were crossed over her chest too. He surrounded her totally, much like the darkness.

“I don’t want to hurt you.” His voice was little more than a murmur in her ear. His breath ruffled the hair on the back of her neck, tickling the sensitive skin.

Silence licked her lips almost afraid to ask, “What do you want?”

Lest We Forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Tuesday Teaser: Finding Chrissten

The Tuesday Teaser this week comes from FINDING CHRISSTEN, which is part of the Legacy series.

TEASER:

She nodded and took a minute to really look at him. Hank. She liked his name. It was strong, like him. Up until now she’d been so focused on his scent she’d paid little attention to his appearance.

He sank down onto the bed beside her, making the mattress dip with his weight. Chrissten studied his face. His eyes were the palest blue she’d ever seen and were fringed with thick eyelashes. His brows were straight and dark in contrast to his hair. It was short and blond. Real short. Almost military short. His nose was large and straight. His lips firm and full. His chin square.

This was one tough male.

His shoulders were so wide he blocked out the rest of the room from her line of sight. His biceps swelled beneath the cotton of his long-sleeved shirt, hinting at his strength.

Her heart skipped a beat and picked up its pace. She wanted to curl her body around him, using his heat to warm her.

Which was totally nuts. She’d just met him. Hadn’t she?

She licked her lips again, thankful they weren’t as dry as they’d been. “You were there, weren’t you?” Even as she asked, she knew the answer to her question. He’d been there.

“Yeah. I was part of the team that extracted you.”

“Team?” It sounded like a military operation, but she knew it wasn’t. Her brothers had both been there.

“The pack.” Hank placed his hand on her upper arm. She flinched and he immediately removed it. He started to stand, but she didn’t want him to leave her.

“Stay.”
