I'm part of a group called Upbeat Authors. As the name implies, it's a group of supportive authors trying to share some positivity on social media. Every week there is a new theme.
This week it is: Simple ways to show the important people in your life that you love them.
There are many ways you can do this, but I thought one of the most important ways was to simply spend time with that person. And when you're there, really be there. Turn off the phone, get off the social media, and give that person your undivided attention.
And when they talk, truly listen. That is a gift beyond price.
What ways do you show your loved ones you care?

Teaser Tuesday--Stefan's Salvation
The beast inside
him rumbled to life. Every heartbeat in the room pounded in his ears. He could
hear the whoosh of their blood
pumping through their veins. The sensation was hypnotic. He licked his lips,
almost tasting the tang in his mouth.
He was hungry and
they were sustenance.
Closing his eyes,
he willed the beast back into submission. It wasn’t easy. Sweat trickled down
the back of his neck. As the nights seemed to grow longer, it had gotten harder
and harder to even have the will to fight his very nature. It would be so easy
to take what he wanted with no consequences.

Weekend Book Club--Life of Lies by Sharon Sala
LIFE OF LIES is the latest book by Sharon Sala. This author is one of the best pure storytellers out there. She weaves complex tales that always leave me wanting more.
BLURB:
Fame, fortune…and a fatal obsession
Sahara Travis is used to being worshipped by adoring fans, but now someone is fixated on her in a dangerous way. After multiple attempts on her life, she reluctantly agrees to hire a security specialist for her protection, though the last thing she wants is some burly bodyguard invading her personal space.
Former army ranger Brendan McQueen's job is to keep the starlet safe and track down her would-be assassin. But when Sahara receives news that her estranged mother has been murdered and her father, the top suspect, is missing, Brendan quickly realizes this is much more serious than your average celebrity stalker.
With Brendan and her devoted assistant, Lucy, in tow, Sahara returns to her family estate in New Orleans to uncover the identity of her attempted killer before he can close in on his final target.

Eternal Brothers is up for Pre-order!
Eternal Brothers, book four of the Dalakis Passion vampire series, is up for pre-order! It will be released on October 18th.
I absolutely love the new covers for this series.
When an anonymous late-night tip sends
reporter Sophia Daring to the cemetery, she isn’t prepared for what she finds
there—a grisly murder scene and the body of a woman completely drained of
blood. Sophia’s never been scared off a story before, but this time all the
clues point to one disturbing conclusion: this was the work of the mysterious
and dangerous Dalakis brothers. And just as unsettling for the fiercely
independent Sophia is the irresistible pull of the stranger also working the case,
the sensually compelling Zane York.
A ex-cop, Zane has made it his personal
mission to prove that the secretive Dalakis family are powerful vampires and
ruthless killers. But when his investigation takes him to New Orleans and their
latest victim, he begins to suspect that the Dalakis are being framed by an
enemy as dark and mysterious as they are. And even as he struggles with his
doubts about the family, there’s no doubt about his hungry response to the
hauntingly beautiful Sophia. He knows he must make her his own, whatever the
cost.
As the smoldering chemistry between Sophia
and Zane ignites in a delirious haze of passion, they will find themselves
immersed in the Dalakis family secrets and the trail of murder that leads to
their door. And as their fears and suspicions war with an unquenchable desire,
she and Zane will discover that a secret from the past may pose the deadliest
threat yet . . .
This is a revised edition of a previous published
book.

Weekend Book Club--When All the Girls Have Gone by Jayne Ann Krentz
This past week, I read WHEN ALL THE GIRLS HAVE GONE by Jayne Ann Krentz. (It waited for it to release in paperback.)
I love all her books. Krentz was one of the authors that helped me discover the world of category romance so many years ago. If you haven't read her, you need to.
BLURB:
Jayne Ann Krentz, the New York Times bestselling author of Secret Sisters, delivers a thrilling novel of the deceptions we hide behind, the passions we surrender to and the lengths we’ll go to for the truth…
When Charlotte Sawyer is unable to contact her stepsister, Jocelyn, to tell her that one of her closest friends was found dead, she discovers that Jocelyn has vanished.
Beautiful, brilliant and reckless, Jocelyn has gone off the grid before, but never like this. In a desperate effort to find her, Charlotte joins forces with Max Cutler, a struggling PI who recently moved to Seattle after his previous career as a criminal profiler went down in flames—literally. Burned out, divorced and almost broke, Max needs the job.
After surviving a near-fatal attack, Charlotte and Max turn to Jocelyn’s closest friends—women in a Seattle-based online investment club—for answers. But what they find is chilling…
When her uneasy alliance with Max turns into a full-blown affair, Charlotte has no choice but to trust him with her life. For the shadows of Jocelyn’s past are threatening to consume her—and anyone else who gets in their way…

Tuesday Teaser--Wolf in his Soul
It's #TeaserTuesday with Wolf in her Soul.
Most people wouldn’t believe in love at first sight. Attraction? Yes. Lust? Absolutely. But he was more than human. He was also a wolf, and he trusted his senses and instincts implicitly. Hannah filled the empty spot in his heart and soul. He didn’t care that she was a half-breed, but he knew his being able to shift and living in a pack might be a problem for her.

Night’s Caress
The Ancients Series, book 1by Mary Hughes
When artist Brie Lark left her vampire ex and her straitjacket of a
hometown to breathe free in New York City, she promised herself two things:
she’d never go back to Meiers Corner, and no more vampires. The last thing she
expected—or wanted—was to be sent back home on an assignment. But her boss at
the FBI needs her undercover on a murder case, working with a black-haired,
black-eyed giant god of a man who’s her idea of perfection, except for one
thing—he’s a vampire.
FBI Special Agent Seb Rikare is an ancient vampire hardened by loss. He’s cut all emotions to protect himself and leads a deliberately steady, almost sterile life. The brash young woman forced to pose as his lover irritates him, with her jangling bracelets and colorful hair. But as much as she irritates him, he finds himself drawn to her lively spirit and he’s tempted to make fantasy a reality.

Wolf in her Soul is available TODAY!
Wolf in her Soul, the 8th book in the Salvation Pack series, is available today!
Detective Reece
Gallagher has spent the last decade working as a cop in Chicago so he can
search for her—the red-haired woman who haunts his dreams.
He’s just about ready to give up and go home to Salvation, North Carolina, when
he finally finds her. But she’s the assault victim on a case he’s working on,
and there’s a full-blooded werewolf who wants her dead. He needs to keep her
safe and convince her she’s his mate.
Hannah Burdette
has a secret she’s never told anyone. But there is someone who knows who—or
rather, what—she is. There’s a stalker after her who plans to rid the
world of her “impure” blood. When the cop she meets turns out to be a werewolf
and claims she doesn’t have to be alone anymore, she’s wary. But where better
to hide from a bloodthirsty hunter than in the middle of North Carolina with
the security of a pack surrounding her?

Weekend Book Club--Blade of Darkness by Dianne Duvall
BLADE OF DARKNESS is the 7th book in Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians series. This is a fantastic paranormal series. If you love kick-ass heroines, hot, sexy, paranormal heroes, lots of action, and plenty of originality, then you should give this series a try. Already looking forward to the next one.
BLURB:
Dana Pembroke has been able to glimpse the future of those she touches for as long as she can remember. But she never saw Aidan coming. When the tall, dark Celt with the charming ...grin yet world-weary eyes walks through her door, the future she sees for him is one full of violence, danger, deception... and passion. Because amidst the terrifying battles that unfold in her visions, she also sees herself in Aidan's arms and in his bed. Dana knows she should keep her distance, but the tender moments and laughter they share entice her even as she finds herself thrust into a world of vampires, immortals, and other preternatural beings.
Immortal Guardian Aidan O'Byrne has been hunting and slaying psychotic vampires for nearly three thousand years, so visions of bloody battles don't trouble him. The battles Dana foresees, however, show Aidan's brethren turning against him, so he can't help but feel alarmed. While he spends as much time as he can with Dana, struggling to decipher her dire predictions, Aidan finds himself utterly smitten. Hope rises that he has finally found a woman who can banish the darkness and loneliness that plague him. Weekend Book Club--Secrets in Death by J.D. Robb
SECRETS IN DEATH
by J.D. Robb is the 45th book in her In Death series featuring kickass heroine Eve Dallas.
I don't know how Robb does it, but this series just keeps getting better. How good is it? I recently went back and reread the entire series. Yes, all 44 books.
Blurb:
A new novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series: Lt. Eve Dallas must separate rumors from reality when a woman who traffics in other people’s secrets is silenced.
The chic Manhattan nightspot Du Vin is not the kind of place Eve Dallas would usually patronize, and it’s not the kind of bar where a lot of blood gets spilled. But that’s exactly what happens one cold February evening.
The mortally wounded woman is Larinda Mars, a self-described “social information reporter,” or as most people would call it, a professional gossip. As it turns out, she was keeping the most shocking stories quiet, for profitable use in her side business as a blackmailer. Setting her sights on rich, prominent marks, she’d find out what they most wanted to keep hidden and then bleed them dry. Now someone’s done the same to her, literally—with a knife to the brachial artery.
Eve didn’t like Larinda Mars. But she likes murder even less. To find justice for this victim, she’ll have to plunge into the dirty little secrets of all the people Larinda Mars victimized herself. But along the way, she may be exposed to some information she really didn’t want to know…

Pre-order Wolf in her Soul
Wolf in her Soul, the 8th book in the Salvation Pack, series, is now up for pre-order.

Fictional Towns
Writing is a creative process that I love. Over the years, I've created a couple of fictional towns for different series, including the town of Salvation, which was first featured in Stefan's Salvation.
