In search of Jeans!

I was reading a column in the local paper and the writer was lamenting how hard it is to find a good pair of jeans. It certainly struck a chord with me.

Does anyone else have a hard time finding a decent pair of jeans?

I have no idea who they're making jeans for these days, but it doesn't seem to be regular women. The target market seems to be extra skinny girls with no hips or butt. I, on the other hand, have a high waist and long legs (34 inch inseam). I'm also in my forties so I don't want my butt hanging out of my jeans, which means no low rise jeans for me. If I can find jeans that fit my hips, they are way too big in the waist. I finally had to buy a pair like that because I was so desperate.

Doesn't anyone make stylish jeans for regular women with hips and a butt? And I'm talking about affordable jeans. Not jeans that are over $100 a pair.

Any suggestions?

Well, since I've graduated to granny jeans, I'm not much of a help. I wear White Stag jeans from Wal-Mart. Perfect fit... maybe they have something in your size. I've never looked in the smaller sizes.

I do know that that brand is actually targeted at women as opposed to teens. $17

The problem with the Walmart here is that they don't carry tall sizes. Regular jeans are way too short for me.

I hear you on the too short. I don't think I've ever managed to find a pair of jeans that fit perfectly.

See, I have the other problem. Most of the pants out there are 4 to 6 inches too LONG. I'll keep an eye out for you.

Most jeans are petite or regular sizes, Rachel. I need tall and they're hard to find around here.

Or if I can find them, they're in the low-waisted style, which I can't wear.

LOL At least you can hem your jeans, Anny. I don't think I've ever had to hem a pair of pants in my life. :-)

As a plus-sized girl, I do well at Lane Bryant. But, yeah, the skinny-leg jean thing that's coming in too style now is...NO. Chubby girls do not look good in those. Eeek!

I'm not sure they even make jeans for normal folks anymore, Crystal. I never had any trouble buying jeans when I was in my teens and twenties, and even into my early thirties. My style hasn't changed, but the jeans sure have.
