Pancakes Anyone?

Today is Shrove Tuesday, which means it is also Pancake Day!

Why pancakes? Well, Shrove Tuesday is the last day before Ash Wednesday, which begins the forty day period of Lent in the Christian religion--a period of fasting and prayer. Traditionally, that meant giving up such rich foods as sugar, eggs, milk and butter. These ingredients are perfect for making pancakes, so many families would use up what they had of these foods by making pancakes.

You can check out Wikipedia for more information.

Enjoy your pancakes. :-)

Glad you enjoyed it, Sheila. I cheated and made pancakes last night for supper. *g* They were delicious.

You're kids are home today? Today's the first day back for kids here after a full week off thanks to snow and the four day president's day weekend.

Happy Shrove Tuesday N.J.
