Guy Fawkes Night

Today is Guy Fawkes Night, aka bonfire night. 

If you're having a bonfire, please be safe. It's a strange holiday. It goes back to November 5, 1605 when Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while placing explosives beneath the House of Lords in London. It had all kinds of political and religious implications at the time. 

I remember it as the night of the community bonfire when I was a kid.

Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...
