Digging Deep!

"In its purest, most unadulterated form, play is the expression of who we are when we can let go of who we are trying to be."
*
~Fran Sorin, Author of Digging Deep
*
I don't have a garden. I don't even have a house. I live on the third floor of an apartment building and my balcony is bare of even the tinest flower. Why then, did I buy a a book about gardening?
*
Digging Deep, Unearthing Your Creative Roots Through Gardening (2004 Warner Books) is much more than a book on how to garden. It is a book on the creative process.
*
Chapter headings include: Imagining-The Sparks of Creativity, Envisioning-Giving Shape to Your Dreams, Planning-Laying Down the Bones, and so on.
*
You can easily see that the stages of planning a garden are much the same as writing a book or knitting a sweater. It all depends dreaming, planning, excecuting, fine-tuning and enjoying the process.
*
I plan to have a house and a garden someday, and I know that I will use this book for that purpose in the future. In the meantime, it is a reminder of the creative process and the creative spirit.
*
It is available in paperback from Amazon.com but I found my copy at my local bookstore.
