Quote of the Week!

The writer E. L. Doctorow once said, "writing a novel is like driving a car at night. You can see only as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way."

I thought this quote made perfect sense, and not just for writing, but for life.

I got this quote from Anne Lamott's book on writing, Bird by Bird.

That's one of my favorite writing quotes. It's so true! You can't keep a whole book in your head, but you don't have to. Just the section in front of you. *g*

Great quote. I just watched E.L. Doctorow get on The Charlie Rose Show. Damn good interview.
