What is a drakon?

 

Well about 4000 years ago, dragons came to our world and mated with human woman. When their sons were born, their sires abandoned them, returning to their own world. Feared and shunned, they have existed among us all this time.

 

They have the cunning, strength, preternatural abilities, and instincts of their dragon sires, along with the intellect and emotions of their human mothers. A deadly combination. And unlike their sires, their base form is that of a human, allowing them to inhabit either human or dragon form indefinitely.

 

Few know of their existence, but a secret group of men and women are working to capture and cage them. For drakons have not only amassed fortunes, but their blood can offer healing and immortality to humans who drink it.

 

They mostly live lonely, solitary lives. But every now and then a drakon crosses paths with a very special woman, one who might change his lonely life forever.

Darius set the book carefully on the floor and began to unbutton his shirt. Sarah took another step back up the stairs but couldn’t tear her gaze away from the swatch of deeply tanned skin he exposed.

“What are you doing?” She winced at the husky sound of her voice.

“Showing you I’m not crazy,” he reminded her.

“Ah, yeah.” She momentarily lost her train of thought when he tossed his shirt aside and then bent to remove his shoes. “Not sure that’s working.” The man was stripping in front of her and she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

Life is not going well for archaeologist Sam Bellamy. She’s stuck in the middle of the ocean on a salvage boat with people who want her dead. It wasn’t her gift for being able to sense objects of power that got her here, rather her need to make a secret society called the Knights of the Dragon pay for killing her mentor. Sam doesn’t believe in dragons, but the Knights do, and if she can get one of the sacred artifacts they’re searching for away from them, she’ll consider it payback.

                     

Ezra Easton is content to run his marine salvage company and live alone on his private island. He may be a four-thousand-year-old water drakon, but he’s civilized enough to know just because he pulls an injured woman from the ocean, doesn’t mean he gets to keep her...

 

When she wakes up, she has a few tall tales to share, and it seems the Knights are after her. But this drakon won’t give up his treasure.

“Did you sleep with me to get information?” she demanded.

The stranger swore, but she didn’t care about the voice on the phone, only about Ezra. He shook his head. “I slept with you because I had to.” He reached out and stroked the side of her face. She didn’t flinch away, nor did she react. “I plucked you out of the sea,” he continued. “You’re mine now.”

And what the hell did he mean by that? “I’m not salvage.”

He loomed over her, closing the gap between them. “No, you’re not salvage. You’re treasure. My treasure.”
