Weekend Book Club--Blood Fury by J.R. Ward

This past week I read BLOOD FURY by J.R. Ward. This is the 3rd book in her Black Dagger Legacy series. It's not really a spinoff of her Black Dagger Brotherhood series because you do get more stories about the BDB characters, but the main focus is on the "next generation" of fighters.

I love the BDB series. There are some books in the series that I read once and will never read again because they are so gut-wrenching. Others I go back to time and time again. Her characters are vivid, her storylines raw and real.

I can't wait for the release of The Thief (the next book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series), which releases in April.

Try Something New

This week the topic for the Upbeat Authors is "Trying new things."

For me, this means saying yes to more opportunities, pushing beyond my fears, and test my limits.

I'm not talking huge changes here. As an introvert my natural inclination is to stay home instead of going out somewhere. I've already signed up for an online class I thought I would enjoy. It's intentionally not related to writing.

Which brings me to #2 on my list above. I love writing, but doing it full-time and working from home tends to make life all about writing. By making time to do the things I love, I'm opening up more space for myself to try new things.

What new thing might you try this year?

Weekend Book Club--Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue series by Katie Ruggle

Over the holidays I got sucked into Katie's Ruggle's Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue series. I found one of them through a BookBub ad and ended up buying the other three and downloading the two free novellas bookending the rest of the series. And I wasn't disappointed!

These books feature real heroes--a search and rescue diver, firefighter, sheriff's deputy, and my personal favorite a mountain man named George, who is an expert in search and rescue, rarely speaks, and will steal your heart.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, do yourself a favor and check out this series.
